At Elevate, we empower people to take control of their habits and make healthier choices — starting with alcohol.
Join elevateHorizen began as a student project at Cal Poly, where it won the 2022 Elevator Pitch Competition and evolved through senior projects in Biomedical and Industrial Engineering. With support from the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE)—first through the Summer Accelerator and now the two-year Incubator Program—Horizen has grown into a purpose-driven startup. We've collaborated with over ten student teams from the College of Business and Engineering, and are now partnering with development teams like Passage Design Studio, and others to bring our vision to life.
Nearly 1 in 2 adults (49%) are actively trying to drink less—yet most tools only appear after things spiral out of control.
The #1 pain point among those trying to reduce drinking is social pressure and isolation - people want to cut back, but not feel cut off.
Health, energy and productivity are the top motivations for reducing alcohol consumption - not rock bottom.
We’re a Gen Z–led team building a modern solution for the next generation. Today’s young people don’t want labels, shame, or interventions — they want tools that help them stay in control. Elevate was born from our founder Owen’s personal journey with alcohol in his family and life. Instead of reactive, clinical solutions, we’re building something proactive: fun, gamified, and community-driven. Whether it’s alcohol, nicotine, social media, or another vice, Elevate helps people make sustainable changes — together. Our platform turns personal growth into a shared journey, where progress is celebrated, not judged.
Owen has built three businesses and started Elevate after experiencing the impact of addiction in his own family and personal life. With a background in entreppreneurhsip, engineering and behavioral health, he’s on a mission to make habit change empowering, social, and stigma-free
